“You Didn’t Even Notice Me!”
A couple of days ago I woke up, came upstairs and saw my son on the couch watching television. I walked up to him, put my hand on his head and greeted him with a hearty, “Good morning.”
After that, I walked down the hallway, and just as I was turning, my daughter came out of her room. No sooner had I walked past her than she turned and said, “You didn’t even notice me!”
OUCH!
She was right–I had failed to greet her in the same way I’d greeted her brother. I had gotten on a mission to do something else, and wasn’t looking for her, or for other opportunities besides the one on which I’d already decided.
I turned to her and gave her a big hug. She smiled up at me and I kidded with her, saying, “You must have sneaked past me.”
She understood, but I’ll have to be careful next time.
Who in your life needs noticing? What have you been on a mission to do, to the neglect of other, perhaps more important, things? Are you doing something that might be perceived as favoritism or unfair?
I was.
